Suit, Skilled, Attractive, Strong,

The film poster for No Time to Die uses images to create a sense of action and danger. The large image of James Bond with a serious facial expression and formal suit shows he is the main character and suggests he is strong, focused, and in control. This helps to construct the meaning that Bond is a hero. There are also images of other characters, including a man with a scarred face and a weapon, which suggests he might be the villain. This creates tension and hints at conflict in the story. The background also shows fire and an explosion at the bottom, which are typical of action films and show that the film will be full of danger and excitement.

Stereotypes

The poster includes some typical action film stereotypes. James Bond is shown as the tough male hero, holding a gun and looking serious. This fits the stereotype of the brave, powerful action man. The villain is also shown with a mysterious, intense look, which is another common stereotype in spy films.

Representations of gender

The poster shows both men and women, but the main focus is on the male characters. James Bond is central and dominant, showing traditional masculinity and leadership. However, one of the female characters is shown holding a weapon and dressed for action, which challenges the stereotype that women in films are only there to look pretty or support the male lead.

Representations of ethnicity

The poster includes characters from different ethnic backgrounds, which shows a move towards more diversity. Lashana Lynch, a Black actress, is positioned confidently and appears powerful. This challenges older Bond films which mostly featured white male characters in main roles.

Representations of age

James Bond is an older male character, which is less common for action films that usually feature younger heroes. This may suggest that experience and intelligence are valued in this version of Bond. There are also younger characters, showing a mix of generations working together.

L/o:   To analyse the film poster for key elements of media language

Guns,  Action,  Women being sexualised, Racism, Lack of diversity

Released in 1974
Based on a book by Ian Fleming
The film had a 7 million dollar budget and made 97 million at the world box office
1973 energy crisis causing an oil crises, this is hinted at through the posters iconography of the power pain and energy beam

- women are sexualised and are attracted to bond
- Lots of love interests for bond
- lots of car chases and car crashes which is surprising for 1970

4)  Shows the different Genres

5) Who has the golden gun, does bond win?

6)  Guns, villains, exotic settings, glamorous women, and suspense are conventions that are typical of action/adventure films.

Propp Characters:
Hero - James bond
Villain - Owner of the Golden gun
Princess - 2 girls that look like they need saving in the poster

The film poster uses images to create the meaning through the characterisation of Propp characters in the collage. This can be seen in the Image of James bond that is the largest of them all and is in the middle of the poster. This creates the impression that James bond is the Main Character and the strongest, Which we can further imply he is a strong character and is most likely going to win and take down the unknown owner of the golden gun
This can also be seen in the image of the golden gun which is aim directly at James bond, this connotes power coming from the character. The fact you cant see the owner of the gun further suggests mystery about this character and a sort of suspense, This creates the impression that the Owner of the Golden Gun is the Villain .
